The Essenes Predict The End Of The Age

I suppose that everyone has heard of the Dead Sea Scrolls, which were first discovered in caves near the Dead Sea, in Israel, in the 1940s. These scrolls were written more than 2,000 years ago. Most scholars think the Dead Sea Scrolls were written by a group of Jewish men called the Essenes, who lived in a community called Qumran, on the shores of the Dead Sea.

The Essenes were a group of righteous, Jewish men who lived over 2,000 years ago. During the time of Christ, the Essenes were the smallest of three religious groups which existed in Israel. The other two groups were the Pharisees and the Sadducees; all three groups were mentioned by Josephus, the Jewish historian. Each group had their own followers, who believed in the authority of their specific group.

 The Essene community existed more than 200 years before Christ and until the end of the first century after Christ. They are credited with the writing and the preservation of the Dead Sea Scrolls, found in jars in Qumran. Almost all of the scrolls have been dated to 100-400 BC, before Christ was born! Most of the scrolls were written around 200 BC, but a few were written after Christ, between 30-70 AD. So these scrolls bridge the time called the 400 silent years (the time between the Old and New Testaments) and connect the followers of the Old Testament to the Christians of the New Testament. Until the Dead Sea Scrolls were found, it was thought that God did not speak to any prophets during this time. Now, since the Dead Sea Scrolls have been translated, we know that God was certainly not silent; he was speaking to the righteous prophets who were part of the Essene community. They were known to be 100% accurate in their prophecies. It is now almost certain that John the Baptist was an Essene prophet. See the document on my website called Essene Prophecies.

The ancient scrolls found at Qumran contained copies (or fragments) of all of the books of the Old Testament. But, the scrolls also contained the testimonies of the Jewish Patriarchs, going all the way back to Adam, the first man created by God himself. A copy of Adam’s scroll has not yet been found, but Josephus, the Jewish historian who lived during the time of Jesus, mentioned this scroll as one which he himself read. Some of these scrolls have only been made available to scholars since the 1990s. As these scrolls are translated into English and other languages, the translations are providing new information which has previously been unknown.

 The Essene Solar Calendar 

Some of the most interesting scrolls are the ones which mention a solar calendar that the Essenes believed was the true calendar, ordained by God. The Essene calendar began at creation and contained references and dates for specific events, such as the flood and the birth of Abraham, the father of the Jewish faith. As the calendar of the Essenes has been discovered and decoded, some scholars believe that the Essene calendar predicts the end of the current age (the Age of Grace) and the soon coming Millennial reign of Jesus on the earth; the 1,000 years of peace!

The Essene calendar contains a timeline for all of human history, recorded in the pages of the Bible. From the creation of Adam and Eve to the current time, there have been almost 6,000 years of human history. The Essene calendar divides history into blocks of 1,000 years. The first 6,000 years of human history are divided into three Ages which are 2,000 years each. The first Age was called the Age of Creation or the Age of Chaos. During this 2,000 year span, Adam and Eve were created and had descendants, Noah built the Ark and then the flood came. The Age of Creation ends around the time of Abraham. The second Age, which lasted 2,000 years was called the Age of Torah. This Age began with the call of Abraham and ends with the first coming of Jesus (who fulfilled the law, the Torah).  The third age, which will last for 2,000 years, is called the Age of Grace and began near the start of the Christian church and the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD. This Age will end after the Great Tribulation when Jesus returns to the earth a second time, to set up His earthly kingdom. The final age is only 1,000 years and will be the Millennial Reign of Christ; the thousand years of peace prophesied in scripture.

When God established the seven days of the week at creation, it was a type and shadow of this calendar. God created the heavens and the earth and everything on the earth in six day. Then, God rested on the seventh day. God instructed man to work for six days, but to rest on the seventh day. This foreshadows 6,000 years of human activity on earth which will be followed by 1,000 years of ‘rest’, in the Kingdom of Christ. The transition from one age to the next is called the ‘birth pangs’ as major events take place which are sometimes catastrophic or include social upheaval. The transition is not a single point in time, but rather an overlap of about 100 years before and after a new age begins. At the end of each Age, there has always been an apostasy from the true ways of God, and a man or a group of people, who rise in rebellion to the laws of God. According to the Essenes, at the end of the first age, it was Nimrod who built the Tower of Babel in rebellion against God. At the end of the second age, it was the Pharisees who corrupted God’s calendar and changed it from a solar calendar to a lunar calendar. At the end of the third age, it will be the Anti-Christ and the False Prophet who pervert the teachings of Christ, in rebellion against God. The chart below shows each Age and some key events. We are only about 50 years to the end of this age!

The 50 Year Countdown:

Dr. Ken Johnson has decoded the writings in the Dead Sea Scrolls and has published several books about the Essenes and their calendar. Dr. Ken Johnson has been my primary source for this information, but I have also researched other websites and read the writings of other scholars. Dr. Johnson was able to calculate our current time on the Essene calendar, and he suggests that Jesus was crucified in 32 AD (give or take a year) and that the Age of Torah ended in 75 AD. Since the Age of Grace is a 2,000 year time span, according to Dr. Johnson and his understanding of the Essene calendar, the Age of Grace will end in the year 2075! This means that the Millennial Reign will begin in 2076! If this is true, during the next 50 years, we should see the following events take place (these are not necessarily in chronological order):

  • The Rapture of the Church (I Thessalonians 4:17)
  • The beginning of sorrows; earthquakes, famine, pestilence, etc. (Matthew 24)
  • The creation of a one world government. (Revelation 13:7)
  • The creation of a one world religion. (Revelation 13:15)
  • The creation of a one world financial system. (Revelation 13:16)
  • The rise of the False Prophet. (Revelation 16:13)
  • The rise of the Anti-Christ (Revelation 13)
  • The Tribulation period, which lasts for 7 years. (Daniel 9:27)
  • The Battle of Gog and Magog (Ezekiel Chapters 38 & 39)
  • The Abomination of Desolation (Revelation 12:5, Matthew 24:15, Daniel 9:27)
  • The Battle of Armageddon (Revelation 16:16-21)
  • The Second Coming of Christ (Mark 14:62, Revelation 19:11-21) 
  • The Final Judgment (Matthew 25:31-33)
  • The binding of Satan for 1,000 years (Revelation 20:1-3)
  • The Millennial Reign of Christ on the earth will begin (Revelation 20:6)

After the Millennial Reign of Christ, which lasts for 1,000 years, the final events for humanity are:

  • The Final Battle (Revelation 20:7-10)
  • The Great White Throne Judgement (Revelation 20:11-15)
  • The New Heavens and a New Earth (Revelation 21:1-5, 2 Peter 3:13)
  • Eternity (Isaiah 9:6-7)

The Jubilee Timeline from the Dead Sea Scrolls:

Within the Dead Sea Scrolls, there is a document called Jubilees. In this document, the Essenes calculated the history of humanity in Jubilees. In the Old Testament, God ordained a division of time for the Jewish people. A shemitah would last for seven years. After seven shemitahs were observed, God ordained a 50th year called a Jubilee year (Lev 25:10-11). The Essenes gave the name of onah to a 500 year period, made up of ten Jubilees. Within the Bible, some numbers had embedded meaning within the number. For example, the number 3 means perfect or complete. For example, there are 3 manifestations of the Godhead (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). There are 3 divisions of the Holy Temple (Outer Court, Inner Court and Holy of Holies). Man is composed of 3 separate entities (body, soul and spirit). Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. The Bible even states that the number 6 represents man since man was created on the 6th day. The number 10 represents perfect order. There are 10 Commandments in the Kingdom of God. Noah was the 10th descendant from Adam and God brought order back into the earth through the flood. Abraham was the 10th descendant from Noah and God brought law and order into the earth by making a covenant with Abraham. The number 12 represent perfect government and God’s authority. Jacob had 12 sons who became the fathers of the 12 Jewish tribes. Jesus had 12 disciples. The New Jerusalem will have 12 gates and 12 foundations. As shown in the chart below, there were 40 Jubilees in the Age of Creation and 40 Jubilees in the Age of Torah. We are now living in the Age of Grace which will contain 40 Jubilees and will end after 120 Jubilees from creation. 120 is 12 x 10 (perfect order x perfect government). Then, the Millennium Reign of Christ will begin in 2075. Or, another possible outcome is that Christ will return before 2075. Matthew 24:22 states; “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved; bot for the elect’s sake, those days shall be shortened”. So, the Millennium Reign could begin earlier than 2075, to spare the elect from the wrath of the Anti-Christ.
