The Bridegroom Comes – Chapter 4

Journey on the Ancient Path – The Way of the Shepherd

Chapter 4 – The Bridegroom Comes

In this chapter, the reader will learn about the ancient Jewish wedding procedure. It is a beautiful representation of the Christian church as the ‘bride of Christ’. Jesus, the bridegroom, could come at any time, to get his bride. So, she must always be ready and waiting. Scripture tells us that we will celebrate the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, in heaven. Then, we will live forever with Jesus, in heaven.

Thought Provoking Journey:

  • The Feast of Tabernacles reminded the Jewish people of God’s presence in the wilderness, when God tabernacled, or lived, in the midst of His people after they left Egypt.
  • King Solomon’s Temple was dedicated during the Feast of Tabernacles and the Shekinah presence of God came down and dwelt in the Temple. God came to live in the midst of His people.
  • The Feast of Tabernacles occurred in the fall, after the summer harvest had been completed. It was celebrated by enjoying the fruits of the harvest. It was the final feast of the year and the most joyous of all the feasts.
  • At the end of time, God will live in the midst of His people, His bride, forever in heaven. Does this feast foreshadow a future, heavenly feast called the Marriage Supper of the Lamb?
